AN OUTLET FOR THIER FRUSTRATIONS

At Aikido Shudokan, we've been teaching teenagers for more than 40 years

WAYS DOING AIKIDO CAN HELP

They make hasty, poorly considered decisions and need to have better judgement.

Could their confidence do with a boost and generally be more positive.

They give up when things get difficult and fail to meet their goals.

RAISING A TEENAGER REQUIRES PERSISTENCE & PATIENCE

You want them to have the tools they need to succeed now and later in life however getting them to do anything is sometimes difficult.

Doing Aikido, a Japanese martial art, helps teenagers to learn how to overcome their problems and learn important lessons - the kind of lessons that will follow them home, to the classroom, and for the rest of their lives.

your teen will grow with every class

Teenagers who study Aikido lean the benefits of self-control and discipline with every lesson.

Our classes instill core values like discipline, respect, and persistence. Students learn that the way they treat others - in and out of the dojo - reflects on them as people and affects their ability to achieve their goals.

LEARN THE VALUE IN RESPECTING THEMSELVES AND OTHERS

Teens sometimes seem to be all attitude and no respect.

At Aikido Shudokan, repsect or REI is a core discipline. Students must treat their instructor and fellow students with respect at all times.

Ultimately, teens who study here at Aikido Shudokan learn that when they respect themselves, others will respect them too.

judgement is an essiential skill in martial arts

The difference between a good performance and a poor one often comes down to judgement. A decision taken.

Students learn how to make judgments on the fly combining what's in front of them in conjunction with their training.

They also learn from the experience of acting on good and not-so-good decisions

get your teens off the tech and into martial arts

We're sure your teenager would happily spend all day sitting on the couch binging, gaming or on social media.

Our tech today is an amazing achievement, but teenagers still need physical activity to stay fit and healthy.

Aikido classes provide teens with challenging workouts in a fun, social setting that rivals any video game.

how to set realistic goals and achieve them

Teens sometimes seem not to care about settings goals either in the short or long term.

Doing Aikido requires them to pursue goals on a regular basis. Each skill they learn, and each belt they earn, represents a goal that they have achieved.

Goal setting in this way provides teens with the tools they need to set achievable, attainable goals in school, at home, and in life.

new friendships

Having different friend groups is so important for our teens.

Doing Aikido will create new friendships outside of school and sports clubs that keep going for years to come.

self defence from predators and bullies

We never want our teens to have to use these skills in modern life, but just like swimming lessons, they are there when they need it.

That's why our Aikido is very serious about teaching your teens the skills needed for self protection.

But knowing how to defend yourself is only half the battle. Our classes teach your teens the respect and self discipline needed to diffuse a situation hoping to avoid violence whenever possible.
