RAISING A TEENAGER REQUIRES PERSISTENCE & PATIENCE
There really is a safe, natural and extremely effective way to take charge and positively impact every aspect of your child’s life. It doesn’t take medicine, therapy, harsh actions, or a bribe for them to change their behavior.
Instead, it is teaching your kids self-discipline, hard work, confidence, and respect. This done in a way that empowers them while also teaching them humility, and promoting health and fitness… all at the same time.
Sounds like a wonder cure doesn’t it?
But there really is something that does all that. And that’s the power of martial arts classes…
POSITIVE SOCIAL INTERACTION AND PERSONAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Your kids’ everyday friends aren’t the main concern anymore when it comes to character development. Now you have to worry about all the negative and harmful influences of social media and the internet.
The true benefit or our classes are the character and success traits that are developed through martial arts training.
Through learning the skills and techniques of Aikido, to the guidance and inspiration of our instructors and the positive social interaction with their fellow classmates, your kids will develop a whole list of skills.
YOUR TEEN WILL GROW WITH EVERY CLASS
Teenagers who study Aikido lean the benefits of self-control and discipline with every lesson.
Our classes instill core values like discipline, respect, and persistence. Students learn that the way they treat others – in and out of the dojo – reflects on them as people and affects their ability to achieve their goals.
LEARN THE VALUE IN RESPECTING THEMSELVES AND OTHERS
Teens sometimes seem to be all attitude and no respect.
At Aikido Shudokan, repsect or REI is a core discipline. Students must treat their instructor and fellow students with respect at all times.
Ultimately, teens who study here at Aikido Shudokan learn that when they respect themselves, others will respect them too.
JUDGEMENT IS AN ESSIENTIAL SKILL IN MARTIAL ARTS
The difference between a good performance and a poor one often comes down to judgement. A decision taken.
Students learn how to make judgments on the fly combining what’s in front of them in conjunction with their training.
They also learn from the experience of acting on good and not-so-good decisions
GET YOUR TEENS OFF THE TECH AND INTO MARTIAL ARTS
We’re sure your teenager would happily spend all day sitting on the couch binging, gaming or on social media.
Our tech today is an amazing achievement, but teenagers still need physical activity to stay fit and healthy.
Aikido classes provide teens with challenging workouts in a fun, social setting that rivals any video game.
HOW TO SET REALISTIC GOALS AND ACHIEVE THEM
Teens sometimes seem not to care about settings goals either in the short or long term.
Doing Aikido requires them to pursue goals on a regular basis. Each skill they learn, and each belt they earn, represents a goal that they have achieved.
Goal setting in this way provides teens with the tools they need to set achievable, attainable goals in school, at home, and in life.
Having different friend groups is so important for our teens.
Doing Aikido will create new friendships outside of school and sports clubs that keep going for years to come.
SELF DEFENCE FROM PREDATORS AND BULLIES
We never want our teens to have to use these skills in modern life, but just like swimming lessons, they are there when they need it.
That’s why our Aikido is very serious about teaching your teens the skills needed for self protection.
But knowing how to defend yourself is only half the battle.
Our classes teach your teens the respect and self discipline needed to diffuse a situation hoping to avoid violence whenever possible.
Aikido classes for teenagers
At Aikido Shudokan, we’ve been teaching teenagers for more than 40 years.
Our classes involve a blend of fitness and traditional martial arts. Each class is structured in a unique way, but in every class, you can expect to learn and train some basic movements and Aikido techniques related to those movements. The class will always include application to self-defence, or learning to use weapons such as a wooden knife or sword, or learning how to apply the Aikido techniques in a more fluid way.
Teenagers train in the adult’s class, which are 1 to 1.5 hours long. In these classes, they will learn to utilise their control, awareness and discipline, which are skills they can apply outside of training. Our world-class instructors guide them through learning the various falls and basic movements that are a part of Aikido.
